Journal: Case Study Overview
Read the case study Value-Driven Project and Portfolio Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry. You will be working with this case study throughout the course, so take the time to familiarize yourself with it. Focus on the important facts and key issues. Use the following guiding questions to focus your reading and assist in writing your overview:
• What is/are the defining objective(s) identified in the case study?
• What are the differences and similarities and the advantages and disadvantages of managing at the project, portfolio, and program levels?
• Who is the target stakeholder group that would benefit from understanding the portfolio management process?
• How does corporate strategy align with the project portfolio in the case study?
• What role does the project manager play in this case study?
Write a concise three- to five-paragraph overview of the case study addressing the previous questions and summarizing your final thoughts on the case study presented.
How do their common-size financial statements differ? Examine their trends in ROE using DuPont analysis. Comment on the differences and/or similarities you find.
Calculate the six-month horizon return (in percent) for each bond, if the actual EBR bond price equals 105.55 and the actual CRR bond price equals 104.15 at the end of six months.
Calculate the overall cost of capital for Cartwell Products. Which projects should the firm select? Does your answer differ from your answer topart d? If so, explain why.
Explain why standard deviation is a deficient statistic for capturing the essence of risk in a put-protected portfolio. How could the standard deviation statistic be modified to account for this concern?

Explain the difference between a nation's health and a nation's healthcare system. What are indicators of health (how we measure health in a community or nation)? What (indicators) do we measure in a healthcare system?

Compute a table of relative strength for Walgreens over the past 6 months. What does the daily relative strength measure indicate for trends in Walgreen Co.'s stock?
What is the expected stream of dividends per share for an investor who plans to retain his shares rather than sell them back to the company? Check your estimate of share value by discounting this stream of dividends per share.
