Go in and read your other group member''s posts. Do they ask an effective question? Do they provide an answer that would work as a thesis? Explain in detail, offering suggestions for improvement (there is always room for improvement). You don''t have to agree with their premise to tell them whether it''s a good thesis statement or not.
1. How can students be sure that college is right for them?
There are a lot of ways you can make a living in today''s day and age, as we all know. As technology continues to grow, it is becoming apparent that college is not your only way to a successful life of wealth. It''s important to note that not all college degrees are created equally, so to speak. It is also necessary to explore all of the job opportunities that are offered with said degree. For example, have you done your research that the ''dream'' job you desire to have is a growing/booming field? Are you willing to relocate states, or even countries to get that job with your degree? Nobody is exactly the same as another person; we all grow, learn, and mature at a different pace. With that being said, a certain amount of maturity and time-management skills are absolutely needed to consistently pass classes in college. The nation wide standard seems to be that we should know what we want to do for the rest of our lives straight after high school, which is just not true for many young-adults. With all that being said, I do not think anyone should feel pressured to get into college as soon as possible, but rather just go at our own pace in life and not try to race with our peers around us. There are endless options and opportunities in this world, especially in today''s age.
2. What purpose do gender roles serve in today''s society?
I believe whole heartedly that society needs to change it''s view on what gender roles look like. Why are we expected to act, speak, dress, and conduct ourselves a certain way just because we are male or female? In same-sex relationships, something that I myself am familiar with personally, the most common question is who is the man in the relationship, or who is the woman in the relationship. The answer is simple- neither. They are either both men or both women. The fraise "society says" bothers me because the world is constantly changing but it seems that what is considered socially correct is staying the same. I fear that if people don''t attempt to open closed mind to new ideas and new ways, it will result in a hate filled world, and that is something we as humans can try to change just by simply being supportive of people and their beliefs. Love, in my opinion, will always win and we need more of it around.
