Question: What does it mean to be "vulnerable"? Being vulnerable, in a leadership perspective, is someone who does not feel compelled to be the first to answer or come up with an idea. Being vulnerable as a leader involves a change in mindset that enables you to see through the eyes of the people you lead. You may be familiar with Brene Brown's work on vulnerability. She explains that we all struggle with things but sharing them is not a sign of weakness. She states, "Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage." It's a compelling way to build trust but also increases sensitivity to negative manifestations of the leader's behavior and consequently heightens the likelihood that trust will be eroded (Lapido et al., 2007).If we consider the data I discussed in the beginning of this post, do you have experience with vulnerability and how it creates the space to go the extra mile? How can vulnerability influence decision theory in the global market?
