Project Assignment

For your you will answer the questions

"What is our purpose? Why are we here?"

• MLA paper of at least 5 to 6 pages OR a Speech Presentation of 4 to 6 minutes with PPT or Poster that answers the questions "What is human purpose? Why are we here?"
• Create and support your own definitions
• Must use a discipline of Humanities as your primary source to answer the question
  • A piece of literature, piece of music, piece of art, theatrical piece, television show or film
  • Basically, what text explains human purpose?

o   Review, and therefore use, one of the Disciplines of Humanities chapters (4-9) to further support your own points based on the medium you are using

The below guidelines must be followed to make a passing grade:

If you choose to write the MLA paper:

- This paper must be at least 5 pages, but no more than 6 pages.

- This paper must include the book as well as 2 additional sources.

- This paper must include at least 4 quotes.

- This paper must critical thinking skills and must be logically coherent.

- This paper must include a thesis statement.

- This paper must follow basic essay structure and be in complete MLA format.

If you choose to give a speech presentation:

- This speech must be at least 4 minutes but no more than 6.

- This speech must include the book as well as 2 additional sources.

- This speech must include at least 4 quotes.

- This speech must use critical thinking skills and must be logically coherent.

- This speech must include a central claim, theme or thesis statement.

- This speech must include 3 visual aids on PPT or poster

Questions to consider, but not required to answer unless it suits your argument:

Does love, morality, death, freedom or happiness factor into this purpose?

Does religion or myth help answer the question?

Does any of it matter? Why or why not?

Why has no one figured this out yet? Has someone figured this out?

What definitions must also be explained? What theories are closely related

-works cited page (textbook, 3 additional sources, and whatever else may need cited)

-paper must relate to something in the book (eros, agape, happiness, love, moral s) whatever it may be just put a lot of information to support

-if possible use statistics

-6 pages

-likes ALOT of detail and/or examples!!! Likes for people to go in depth and think deep.

-questions on guideline paper all doesn't have to be answered just some things to think about when writing the paper

-have 6 quotes

-big on text citations

-big on MLA format

-give 2 sources from text book

-give 3 additional sources
