Question: What are the "levels of phonological awareness?" Gillon cites 3 (syllable, onset-rime, and phonemic awareness) and breaks them down into 14 individual components, a few under each general "level" (ex., syllable segmentation, blending, identity and deletion). Other sources have other charts and other numbers of levels. Is there an "official" number of phonological awareness levels? I'm supposed to make an infographic or chart showing each level, what the skill looks like, age usually acquired, signs of issues, and assessments that can be used. I was going to use Gillon's model but worried I was on the wrong track.
