I am writing a scientific report and i would like some help gathering some research and putting it together. the following points need to be addressed:

1) Why did the earthquake and tsunami occur. Location, plate techtonics setting, local earyhquake hazard and tsunami hazard, etc.

2) What were the precursor activities and what is the likely hood of reoccurance

3) Was anything done to minimize effects? could more be done?

4) what was mani impact on local community? subdivide into primary and secondary and also short term and long term.

5) Japan is very modern yet it was not immune. How is this possible.
