Concept: - conversion of carbon dioxide emissions from cement industry to acetic acid.

Aim: - As global warming is in great concern, carbon dioxide is the gas which causes global warming. Basically, we will be utilising the carbon dioxide emission before it is emitted to the environment.

Approach:- Firstly, the carbon dioxide gas from the cement industry will be converted to Syngas (Synthetic natural gas) via dry reforming which will be the first catalytic step. Secondly, this Syngas will be converted to acetic acid in a second catalytic step.

This project is for preparation of acetic acid from syngas of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Particularly, this will comprise catalytic steps of converting hydrogen and carbon monoxide (syngas) in the process stream to methanol. This methanol will be converted to acetic acid via carbonylation reaction to acetic acid.

The conventional method of preparation of acetic acid used carbonylation of methanol and required methanol as an external supply. This is a best route to eliminate the need of external supply of methanol by producing methanol and carbon monoxide in parallel.

Moreover this project has to modelled in aspen plus. This area of research is attached with the mail which will give you the idea and the aim of the project.

Report Format: - The report will be of 80 to 90 pages.
