Writing Assignment

After watching the documentary, you need to relate the three social structure theories to the offenders, crimes, and/or crime prevention measures in the film. The three social structure theories include:

i. Cultural Conflict Theory
ii. Anomie / Strain Theory
iii. Social Disorganization Theory

Please review the above referenced material for further insight surrounding these three theoretical approaches to understanding criminality. I recommend doing this before you watch the film, so you can make notes about the theory / film connections while watching.

The purpose of this assignment is to take the course knowledge and apply it to real world situations. In other words, I want you to relate it to the empirical knowledge garnered from the course texts and materials. Try to incorporate as many of the words, themes, concepts, and ideas as you can from these materials. To this end, you should include APA citations and references when discussing the film and three social structure theories (see APA citations folder for help).
