Drug addiction is a chronic sickness that has the characteristics of compulsive and loss of control. It is a disease that controls the mind of a person even if they are pregnant. Without proper rehabilitation no circumstance can make a drug addict stop the addiction problem. Several drug addict under the law gets to go a rehabilitation center for healthcare services unless they commit a misdemeanor or a felony.

Several arguments may favor the conviction or rehabilitation of a pregnant drug addict. Some specialist such as advocates argue that the endangering of a child is a felony since the mother has the choice of seeking help to overcome the addiction. Others argue that the will should come from bringing a new born into this world.
