In the United States, a number of ethnic groups have experienced the burden of legally imposed racism. Those peoples include the aboriginal people who were here when Europeans arrived, Africans brought as slaves, immigrants from China and Japan, and immigrants from Ireland, Eastern Europe, and Italians.
