The hyperbolic cosine, cosh t, is defined as the solution of this equation subject to the initial values: y(0) = 1 and y'(0) = 0. The hyperbolic sine, sinh t. is defined as the solution of this equation subject to the initial values: y(0) = 0 and y'(0) = 1.
