Case Study - Aged Care Sector
Solomon is 83 yrs old. He and Hannah (wife) migrated to Australia from Israel almost 50 years ago after Solomon's business venture expanded and become international success. Solomon and Hannah had 4 children after moving to Australia. Rebekah (49) (enduring Power of Attorney), Josef (47), Elijah (45), and Moshe (40). They all have inherited Solomon's business sense and are spread across the world in banking, engineering, and technology. Though nome of the children have continued to follow the Judaism practices from their childhood.
After 30 years pf working long hours and weeks, Solomon and Hannah opted to sell the business (for a large profit) and purchase a hobby farm in the Lockyer Valley. The farm host a moderate flock of free-range chickens, and 2 paddocks of lavender. The produce is shared with other local businesses and manufacturers. When Solomon and Hannah turned 70, they employed 2 people to keep the farm running. They also renovated the farm house. The large single story had wide verandas added, walls knocked down to create open planned living with spacious bedrooms, and the bathrooms were modernised into wet rooms.
Unfortunately, Hannah passed away last December after a short battle with colon cancer. This shocked the entire family. All the children ( and their families) were home for the last month of Hannah's life. A couple of months later, Solomon experienced a stroke. He has left side hemiplegia and requires assistance to transfer and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility. He has an impaired swallow, requiring modified foods. His speech is slightly slurred when he speaks. Solomon will be returning home next week from hospital.
