Mrs. j who was admitted with AKI was given hydration and diuretics which helped decrease her creatinine to 18 and her GFR inc to 12. Her potassium remained unchanged and her urine output was minimal, less than 400ml in 24hrs. Her respiratory effort is becoming more labored now requiring oxygen support to maintain a saturation greater than 95%. Nephrology is consulted and hemodialysis is ordered. A right chest perm catheter is placed for her dialysis treatments.
