Question

12-year-old male, in the sixth grade is being seen for routine health screening. States has had no health issues and has not seen a primary healthcare provider in the past year. Up to date on immunizations. No surgical history. No routine medications. NKDA. Watches TV and plays video games 2-3 hours nightly. Teachers report child is well behaved in class and achieved "Bs" in all subjects on last report card except Math, in which he received a "C". Family history: Mother is overweight and has a 2 year history of diabetes. Paternal grandfather has hypertension. Notable examination findings include faint abdominal striae and acanthosis nigricans behind his neck. The remainder of the examination is normal.
