Until very recently, ride-sharing company Uber required its passengers who had been sexually assaulted by its drivers (and vice-versa) to make their claims against Uber by arbitration rather than by litigation. As part of the arbitration process, victims were required to sign confidentiality agreements and were not permitted to speak publicly about the incident or the resolution. Now, because of the changed policy, victims can pursue mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
