The search engine business is dominated by a few wealthy corporations. Google is the most used and wealthiest. In 2014, the European Court of Justice ordered Google and other search engine companies to add a procedural process whereby a person could request that a search engine link be removed from the Internet in Europe if it is "inaccurate, inadequate, irrelevant or excessive." This right of a European citizen is known as "the right to be forgotten." As of March 2018, 655,000 requests for removal of information have been made. Google has granted 43.4% of those requests. Most of the requests ask for removal of information and photographs on Facebook.
