Effectively Paraphrase the following paragraphs
Step 2:
This case falls under Principle C: Integrity and Principle B: Fidelity and Responsibility. It is important that I am aware of my responsibilities and the obligation I agreed upon when working in psychology. It is my duty to be honest and reliable for my patients to ensure what is best for them. In this case it is my responsibility to follow obligations and honesty and report the case because it is unethical. Before doing so, I will hopefully find a solution to provide my supervisor with the understanding that what was done is unethical and find a way to get the patient the help they need ethically. My clinical supervisor is under the assumption that lying is what is best for her patient when it can cause more harm to her patient. It is my responsibility that the patient is put in special educational program through the correct measures instead of lying to ensure that this is the correct step to take. This case falls under Standard 1.04: Informal Resolution or Ethical Violations. I hope to discuss with my supervisor her conflict and find an appropriate measure to get the client in the right program ethically rather than lying. There is an opportunity to talk to the parents and discuss their options and even reassess the client and see if the first assessment was accurate. If that is ineffective, Standard 9.06: Interpreting Assessment Results can play a beneficial role in getting the client into the correct program rather than altering the scores. Rather my clinical supervisor violated the ethics code and took measure into her own hands. When observing the clients testing abilities could affect a psychologist's interpretation and ethically move forward to get the client in the special educational program. Standard 9.06 plays a role in this case in understanding the true purpose of the assessment and the ability to resist bias which could have been a major violation with this client. Standard 5.01 come to play because the supervisor is falsely providing information to allow her client to be permitted into the special education program.
Step 3:
I had troubles finding laws that were associated with the altering of cognitive assessments. However, it is still a violation of the ethics code. Would this be considered a severe case because it can cause educational progress for the client in the state of Louisiana? It breaks the code of ethics, is it severe enough to report to the board? Since my clinical supervisor was looking for the best interest of the client, is it considered inappropriate? Was there a better and more ethical way to handle the situation? Am I in the wrong in reporting the situation in which it could possibly harm the client's education? I feel that though it does seem wrong to report the incident, but that is based on my own personal bias, and we are required to follow the ethical codes and my supervisor did not. I do believe that there was an ethical measure that could have been taken to get the client in this program and my supervisor went of personal bias and against the code of ethics to permit the client into this specific program. I want to follow the appropriate measure that will be in the best interest of myself, my supervisor, and the client. With these questions answered, I would be able to make the appropriate decisions regarding this situation.
Step 4:
The people to be affected from with case is myself, my clinical supervisor, and the client. We each play a role in whether we caused the situation, or we are a part of it. This dilemma has the opportunity of affecting all of us negatively and could possibly cause a loss of licensing and the client not getting the appropriate education. It would be in my discretion to act and help the clients get into the appropriate program while also trying to figure out my own solution to this dilemma that is ethical.
Step 5:
I would begin with getting advice from colleagues and high ups about the situation and the plan of action I should take. My first plan of action would be talking to my clinical supervisor individually and go over alternatives to ethically getting the client in the special education program. Whether the punishment would be severe or not if I reported it, it is unethical, and I would want her to have the opportunity to be ethical in her decision and do what is best herself, myself, and the client. If the discussion is ineffective, I will report the situation and hopefully action will be taken and I hope to be able to help the client get into the program that is necessary, but by following the ethics code. It is in my interest to do what is appropriate for my client and the people involved including myself and in doing so if I have to report the incident then that is what will be done.
Step 6:
I will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of my course of action. I will monitor the assessment of the client to ensure that it is done properly and ethically, while also observing other factors that could play a role in if the client needs to be placed in a special education program. I will also have an interview with the client and ask a series of questions pertaining to his education and level of knowledge to determine if the program is the correct course of action. I will reflect on my decisions and further expand and work to help with my understanding of situations such as this and various others as well.
