Question

Shane is a 42-year-old male presenting to Maryville University Clinic for a rash and intermittent itching of his left lower leg. Symptoms started about one to two weeks ago. The affected extremity is intermittently itchy and progressively becoming bigger. The rash is round and localized to the left lower extremity, there is no rash anywhere else on his body. He denies allergies to any medication. Shane has used OTC hydrocortisone cream and athlete's foot cream with no relief of symptoms. Shane does not have a history of similar symptoms. Shane also denies pain, fever, chils, SOB and any systemic symptoms. He denies recent hospitalization, use of any antibiotics or new soaps, lotions, or shampoo products.
