Explain the difference between the terms IFG and IGT. Impaired Fasting Glucose is when an individual's fasting BSLs are greater than normal range but not within the range of being diagnosed with diabetes. Impaired fasting glucose range is 5.6mmol/l to 6.9mmol/l (Tabák et al., 2012). While Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) is when an individual's Blood sugar levels are higher than normal during the glucose tolerance test but not higher enough to be within the range of being diagnosed with diabetes, IGT is diagnosed when the range is between 7.8mmol and 11.0mmol/L at the 2-hour mark (Tabák et al., 2012).
