Betchem Manufacturing Company is into the production of kitchen knife with staff strength of 60. The company makes profit between the ranges of 200000 and 280000 Ghana cedis per annum, but for 10 years now, the company is not making any effort to increase salaries, give allowances for extra time, and provide protective equipment and health insurance. The staff has formed a union called the BMWU, who met with the employers to bargain for their rights and benefits. It was agreed that salaries be increased by 25%, 10% of gross salary per hour for extra time (allowances), protective equipment be provided and health insurance covered.
