Purpose:
Being able to write a logical and reasonable argument is a real-world skill and is extremely important in any subject. The goals of this paper are to help you write better arguments and allow you to incorporate the ideas of other writers into your own writing. These skills are important for writing you will do in EH 102 and other courses, as well as outside of the University. Task:
A town is planning to erect a monument in a public square to a person of extreme importance. Your weighty task is to choose the person to which the monument should be dedicated. The person can be alive or have passed away, but he/she must be someone who has done something in their life that has made a huge impact on people/society. Your task for this paper is to explain who you chose to honor, and mostly justify why you chose that person, which will come in the form of an argument. Consider: What qualities does/did that person possess to make them worthy of such an honor? What did they do that made a difference in the world? To whom did they make a difference? Why is this person more worthy of honor than anyone else? How might that person's achievements affect future generations? There are SO many people in the world, so think on who you choose carefully.
