Here are three (3) alternate hypotheses.

  • Vandalism arrests are related to age of the offender.
  • The South has higher property crime rates than the Northeast. 
  • Clients of public defenders have fewer plea bargains compared to clients of court-appointed attorneys.

For each alternate hypothesis, you need to do three things:

1) state the corresponding null hypothesis in words (you will not receive full credit if you write symbols only).

2) State whether the research hypothesis is directional or non-directional  

3) Indicate whether a one-tailed or two-tailed test of significance would be appropriate to test the research hypothesis .

Pick two of the research hypotheses listed above, and tell me the following:
