The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is a mandatory, value-based payment program implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that covers nearly all outpatient US clinicians who treat Medicare patients. MIPS was designed to assess the performance of outpatient clinicians. As Qi et al. The notes should be written in terms understandable by the patient, that indicate their indication and any adverse effects to monitor for. The written medication reconciliation would positively impact my patients care as it would assist them in knowing why they are prescribed said medications as well as the ability to understand and report undesired side-effects. This practice would ideally improve medication compliance and stabilization resulting in reduced need for hospitalizations.
