Preschool Reflections

Reflect on memories of preschool through a visual medium. The use of paper and crayons is intended to bring back some of the memories while keeping the focus off artistic talent. Sometimes the visual space of a preschool setting is important to connecting with the activities that took place there. If you do not have memories of a preschool experience, either imagine one or explore other memories from around the time period, including even kindergarten and early grade school.

Instructions:

Explore your memories of preschool or educational experiences in the equivalent time period through a crayon drawing. You could draw the things you remember doing, where you remember doing them, people you remember, or feelings from the time period. Use your drawing as a starting place to think about what type of early childhood education you received. How did you feel at that time? What were the best parts? Were there parts that were distressing? Now that you know more about how children's minds work, how well do you feel that that education addressed age-appropriate needs? What would you have changed about your experiences?
