Assume you are responsible for Labor Relations in a Union Plant. A front line supervisor approaches you and say's he would like to do something special for one crew of workers (4 people) for their outstanding teamwork and execution during a major maintenance effort at the plant. What the supervisor had in mind was to give each crew member a spot bonus of $150.00 for an effort he believes was exceptional. The plant in which these workers are assigned has 3 other crews who also worked during the maintenance effort but the supervisor is not recommending any additional compensation for the other crews because he does not believe they deserve any additional recognition for their effort. What would be your response and why?
