Assignment:
While I agree with J.Allen , students would lose the in-person interaction with their teachers if schools were to close again. I raise the fact that school closings would help limit or contain the spread of the Omicron variant and other future global pandemics. With the Omicron variant introduced us to skyrocketing cases, I believe closing large public places like schools would help suppress the spread of the variant and it would help it from producing a global pandemic.
While The New York Times author of this article may believe that schools should not be closed due to effects of the global pandemic Covid, I agree to disagree. Since the spread of Covid in 2020, there has been several vaccines administered, vaccines that proved that one could yet contract Covid, even having received the vaccinations the symptoms were not as impactful. In conclusion if schools were to remain open during the new variant of Covid called Omicron, according to, UC Davis Health, Omicron can easily spread, even to those who are fully vaccinated and boosted. But if schools were too closed not only would the Omicron spread, but other things would have an effect on students and parents. And while for some it was a vacation, for others it was a nightmare
