For this exercise, you will identify two pivotal moments in "Bisclavret" or "Lanval" and explain why these moments are pivotal and thus significant to the narrative. The two pivotal moments must be selected from the same text!

-Write three sentences to explain why you identified this pivotal moment as a significant passage. The three sentences will do the following:

Sentence 1: State what the pivotal event is that happens. Show that you understand what is actually happening in the text and that you can accurately summarize it.
Sentences 2 and 3: Explain why this pivotal moment is significant. What significant role do you see it playing at the juncture at which it occurs? How does it prove pivotal to the text overall? You must consider the pivotal moment in relation to the narrative as a whole and explain how the pivotal moment (a SMALL passage) relates in important ways to the whole narrative (the BIG picture).
