Assignment:

The Snapshot Transportation Company Inc. accomplishes most of its work through projects. It has a very extensive project governance model. However, recently senior management has noticed that the company has difficulty selecting the most beneficial projects for the organization.

The company uses a project methodology it calls SnapMethod. SnapMethod is a methodology adapted or customized from the Waterfall project methodology. SnapMethod currently has 4 phases - initiating, planning, executing and closing.

To address the company's project selection difficulties, senior management has agreed with the PMO director's idea to add a fifth project phase called 'selecting'. This phase will be used to identify project ideas that are suitable to become projects and, therefore, enter the initiating phase.

Once the selecting phase is implemented for the company's projects, projects will follow the five phases in this order:

Selecting the project idea to become a project,

Initiating the project,

Planning the project,

Executing the project, and

Closing the project

Describe the processes that will be used in the selecting phase. For each process, briefly describe the:

Tools and techniques used in the process, and

Output(s) of the process.
