International freight forwarders (IFF) and customhouse brokers (CHB) are typically privately-operated entities that do business with a wide variety of firms. They may be a single firm operating at one port, a multi-office company operating regionally or nationally, or part of an integrated logistics company (e.g., FedEx or UPS). They may, however, be an in-house entity of a business and only concern themselves with the international freight movements and transactions of that business. In that case, they are not offering their services to the public. For this assignment identify and research companies that have in-house IFF and/or CHB operations. Based upon your research, identify and discuss three (3) factors that you feel influence the decision to have in-house IFF and CHB operations.
