Assignment:
How would you deal with this conflict story below? Please elaborate:
During my military enlistment, I ran into many different conflicts in my various workplaces. Most problems were usually handled with a verbal counseling, while the more serious problems led to administrative actions, to include a loss of pay, rank, etc. For the most part, there were always steps to follow for those who violated a law or policy. The Uniform Code of Military Justice or UCMJ was the guide for those individuals who could not resolve their conflicts in a professional manner.
I have dealt with situations involving intrapersonal, interpersonal, intragroup and intergroup conflict. The most common conflict that I encountered during my military services was intrapersonal conflicts, as I struggled with it myself. Our shifts usually were a minimum of 12 hours, not including formation before our shift begins and having to check out our duty weapons, so personal time was always difficult to alot for. At the time I did not have children, but I was married and my wife would feel the result of my long days as well. Spending so much time away from her made me want to work harder on my job because I felt the need to compensate for it. I learned to deal with my own interpersonal conflicts by communicating with her anytime I felt as if work upset me, or if she would seem upset about it. This made dealing with work a little less stressful and easier to focus during my time at work and not worrying about my personal relationships.
