Question: How well did they describe interpersonal communication? Did they explain the differences between communication in organizational contexts and communication in relational contexts correctly?

Interpersonal communication is "..the process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages."(Arkansas State). There are many barriers that can prevent effective communication, I would guess even more so today than in decades past given the rise of technology limiting people's exposure to person-on-person communication in a physical setting. Some barriers include age, knowledge, culture, and even language. Communication differs greatly when comparing organizational communication and relational contexts. In an organizational context, communication is expected to be business related, using formal tone and clearness to convey a message. Whereas in a relational setting, communication is dictated by the two individuals perception of what may or may not be deemed appropriate, leaving more room for various communication, or a less strict freedom than in a business/organizational setting.
