Question: You are a consultant who has been engaged by a rapidly growing family firm in Australia which has recently established new operations in PNG, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. The firm's head office is based in Sydney but also has staff based in Melbourne and Perth. The Perth office also looks after some small operations in Jakarta, Indonesia. The owners have enjoyed leading the organisation in a tightly controlled way from Sydney but now wonder - because of the business growth - how they should best structure the firm. They have asked you to provide two possible options for them to consider. Your task is to provide these two options and justify them based on what you know about the family firm.
