Assignment: Informed Consent Paper
For this assignment you will write a 3-5 page (250 words per page) position paper, in which you develop some position on some issue that falls into the category of Informed Consent. You will need to state your position, give arguments to support your position, anticipate objections to your position and arguments, and finally respond to those objections. You get to choose your topic as long as it relates to Informed Consent. This topic is not as broad as others but you can narrow your focus to particular types of Informed Consent. A few example topics are:
Informed consent dealing with particular cases such as one in which a patient is non-responsive or in a coma with no identifiable relatives
How old should one need to be to give informed consent? Can younger emancipated minors provide informed consent? Should we make the age older? (any of these questions could be the focus of your paper)Make a case for when informed consent would not be necessary
Again these are just examples. You can choose a topic that is not on this list as well if you choose, but be sure that it does relate to the topic. You will need to cite at least 2 sources(not counting the ones we read in class) that come from peer-reviewed academic journals in your paper and I expect it to be double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 point font.
