These ideas around these conventions often weight heavily on the various characters that we have discussed in many of the short stories. Using ONE of the short stories that we have discussed in this unit, create your own analysis of how the individual and society come into conflict with these social norms and conventions. How do the authors explore these ideas through their characters, plot development, themes, symbols, dialogue, language, etc. How do the traditions and conventions within the story come into conflict with the various characters that we have discussed in this unit. Relate these ideas to your own observations in our present culture and society, in order to explore this larger idea of what makes these texts relevant to today's discussions.
