A transportation company noted an increase in demand for its services and need to increase the number of drivers. The human resource specialist is tasked with the recruitment exercise. She retrieved the following information from the human resource past records.

The company found that running a large newspaper advertisement for one week costs about $3000 and typically results in 282 applicants and 13 job acceptances. However, paying employees a referral bonus of $150 for each applicant resulted in about 30 applicants and 28 job acceptances.
