In this assessment you are required to write a critical reflection answering the following question: 

 

‘How can crime be explained?’ 

 

In your answer, you will need to compare two theoretical perspectives canvassed in Crime and Criminology lectures and readings, from weeks 5-7 (which include classical, positivist and critical perspectives on crime). In responding this question, are required to: 

 

a) Explain the key principles of your chosen two theories and identify one benefit and one pitfall of each perspective 

 

b) Identify which perspective you find most convincing as an explanation for crime, and why. 

 

c) Make sure your critical reflection contains an introduction and a conclusion. 

 

d) Include a reference list which properly references at least four essential or additional LLC readings that relate to criminological theory
