Case study

FNP 85-year-old female with chronic pain secondary to fibromyalgia. She has a long history of iron-deficiency anemia and depression, is hard of hearing, and has a history of falls. Her youngest daughter and her husband, and two 20-something daughters moved in with her 2 years ago after she had a hip replacement. Mrs. T. agreed to sign over her house to them in exchange for their caring for her. Mrs. T. lives in the master bedroom with bathroom on the first floor, the two girls live on the second floor, and her daughter and husband live in the basement. Mrs. T. rarely goes out due to pain and fear of falling. Her hearing impairment precludes using the telephone. Her appetite is poor, her sleep patterns erratic, and she is frequently tearful. She spends most of her day watching television.
