During the Baroque most art was produced for either the courts, the church or individuals from a wealthy middle class. How do these different groups of patrons affect the form and content of the arts of the Baroque era?

Herodotus describes several different key episodes in the Persian War. We have read descriptions of Marathon, Thermopylae and Plataea. Select one of these three episodes and discuss how Herodotus "spins" his narrative. Using clear examples, illustrate at what points Herodotus' accounts seem unreliable or biased. Does this "spin" make his storytelling more effective? Why did he choose to tell his story in this way?
