One piece of healthcare that I think is going to impact the future is the use of telestroke consultations. Working in a small community hospital this technology allows our patients to get the neurology consult that they need to give them the best outcome. This also allows providers to keep people in the community hospital without always having to transfer them out to see get that specialist consult. The primary reason telestroke is important it provides a plan of care for the patient since medication can only be given within a certain window. (Hendrickx et al., 2023) These consults are very time sensitive, with telestroke we are able to get these consults done quickly. I think in the future we will be able to do more consults this way for rural hospitals to get the plan of care from the specialist.
