Question: The arrival of employees at a tool crib can be described by a Poisson distribution. Service times are exponentially distributed. The rate of arrival averages 45 machinists per hour, while an attendant can serve an average of 50 men per hour. The machinists are paid Rs. 24 per hour, while the attendants are paid Rs. 15 per hour. Find the optimum number of attendants to place in the crib, assuming 8 hours and 200 days per year.
