Terms such as leadership, management, and power are commonly used in business communications, and often interchangeably. Yet scholars have long debated the differences between management and leadership. Furthermore, to be an effective leader, it is important to understand and articulate these nuances as well as understand the critical role of power in leadership. Reflect on your understanding of these concepts. Consider the differences between these concepts and how each one influences the other, and then answer the following questions:
What is power and how does it relate to leadership?
What are the differences between positional power and personal power? Which type is more important?
Do you see a difference between the work of a leader and the work of a manager in terms of what you have discovered about power? What is the relevance of this distinction for leadership in the modern business environment? Can the two roles be mutually beneficial?
Consider the definitions of "leader" and "manager." Which do you believe is most influential in the health care organization?
You post your ideas on the roles that a manager may need to assume that are and are not described in Mintzberg's matrix.
Find two or three articles that address financial reporting practices and ethical standards in health care finance, including Generally accepted accounting principles and Corporate compliance, ethics, or fraud and abuse.

How may ethics be taught in the workplace? Should an internal or external person be responsible for teaching ethics in the workplace?
In your own words and without references, based on your own experience, using the Theory of Constraints, identify scheduling or resource allocation constraints from past work experience or a familiar company situation.
What management strategies can you employ in your current position (even if you are not yet a manager)?
In your own words, explain the steps and benefits of using a Six Sigma Methodology in a Decision Making Process. Demonstrate your thought using an example of the development of a project.

Discuss the skills necessary to converse to technical personnel while further exploring the skills necessary to communicate effectively with those lacking a technical understanding.
Compare a brand that you think has broken its brand promise to its customers to the trusted brand that you think keep their promise to their customers.
