Instructions:
- You are required to accomplish your work individually.
- The required phases should be documented in a report using MS-Word.
- The project report should include an introduction, the body, a conclusion and your own reflection, and a list of references.
- The topology (network layout) can be designed using the software "Cisco Packet Tracer" or any other tool. Then copy the snapshot of the drawing into the project report.
- The report should not exceed 8 pages.
Project objectives:
Upon completion of this Project, students will be able to:
• Identify the common components of modern networks;
• Identify the common elements of the Internet;
• Illustrate how end user devices connect to the Internet;
• Relate the service providers (network providers, contents providers, application providers, application service providers) to end users, and explain, with examples, the difference between all those providers;
• Explain how the infrastructure devices inter-connect networks;
• Correctly identify some cabling technologies for use in the network;
• Present and explain how clouds provide services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS);
• Describe the connectivity of different Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
In this project, you will use your knowledge which you acquired throughout this course to model the data communication and modern networking. Each student should follow and achieve the following tasks:
Task 1: Design a network to connect two company branches through MPLS by two routers to route data transmission between them. You should describe each of the following in detail for this setup:
1. Router configuration method
2. Modes in configuring router devices
3. How many subnetworks used in the whole network
4. Assigning IP address for each port
5. Enabling port to be on
6. Enabling DHCP in Routers
7. Giving description to the ports
Task 2: Create your own representation of the Internet as you see it, and using the networking concept you learned throughout this course.
1. Draw your representation of the Internet. You may draw it using any MS Office tools, alternatively you can use Packet Tracer to illustrate your idea; no Packet Tracer configuration is necessary. To represent the components within your drawing, make sure to use icon shapes similar to those used in Packet Tracer while illustrating the communication media, end devices, and infrastructure/networking devices.): (10 marks)
• LANs (1mark)
• WANs (1mark)
• Communication media (1 marks)
• Network Hierarchy (1 mark)
• Internet clouds (1mark)
• End devices (1mark)
• IoT (Internet of Things) (1mark)
• Infrastructure devices (2 marks)
• Security devices (1 mark)
2. Your report should include a description of the Internet components your included within your Internet representation. Make sure to address all points mentioned in the project objective listed above. (5 marks)
Task 3: Reflection on the current Internet infiltration within our lives, and how you see the future of interaction. (5 marks)
Include ONE new trends/concept as related to artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, machine learning, cloud computing, OR information security issues.
Task 4: Presentation (As completed sentences not paragraph + steps of work as 1 2 3 ..etc + don't forget to add notes as short points & photos (snapshot))
Each student should present her/his work online in front of their classmates. The following are some guidelines to help you plan your presentation:
1. Brief description about your representation of the Internet.
2. Brief description of the Internet components.
3. Brief description of one network configuration (show a private IP address, default Gateway, a public IP address, DNS, Subnetting, configuration techniques to routers and switches etc..).
4. The evaluation of your presentation will be based on the following criteria:
5. Clarity of demonstration.
6. Utilization of time.
7. Awareness of the contents being presented and the response to examiners' questions.
