Question: Students will complete a research prospectus paper that includes at least one topic in the area of close relationships. A research prospectus (3-4 pages of text) is a research plan that includes a title page in APA format, a brief review of the literature (2-3 articles), a hypothesis, an explanation of the research design, an explanation of the proposed method, a discussion of possible limitations, and a reference page.

For my research prospectus, I want to research how the Servicemember's mental health affects close relationships. Being an active duty service member, there is a lot more that goes on with our mental health outside of PTSD. I believe the perfect research method would be a case study because it will allow me to examine one person or a small group of servicemembers from different branches.

I believe different branches experience different kinds of trauma. The mental state of a United States Navy Sailor coming home from deployment may differ from a member of the Army, Marines, or Air Force. I think it would be interesting to see the different perspectives of each individual.
