Strategic Project Management
Assessment - Project Study
Your task
Individually, you are required to prioritise and build a proposal for a project within an industry's portfolio.
Assessment Description
This assessment aims to foster students' ability to evaluate and determine project viability, including the analysis required in the selection process. This will also form a part of students' ability to identify and implement projects that meet an organisation's strategic goals and requirements and analyse project lifecycles and the processes involved in project development. Students will also demonstrate the criteria required to evaluate the success of projects based on an organisation's goals, strategy and standards.
Assessment Instructions
The project study details you must focus on will be available via MyKBS's ‘View the assigned project case' button in the subject's assessments tab. Based on this, your task is to assess the project portfolio outlined in the selection you made and present your proposal for the most critical project. To initiate this initiative, you must choose your project management method and present your approach to key stakeholders.
In recording your video, you must provide sufficient information to the project stakeholders regarding how your proposal will meet the current business needs and strategy outlined in the Project documents and why it is the most crucial. Be mindful that this is not an explanation of the theoretical concepts. However, it is the application of project management methods and strategic alignment.
Your project must be linked to the case study to identify the business background, objective and concept, the project's definition, its competitive advantage or value, and success failure criteria. You are also expected to present a strategic focus and the project management method you would apply. In addition, you must demonstrate how you propose to deliver these results, clearly linked to the case study criteria of what the project stakeholders expect.
Once you have recorded your proposal, you are required to create a one-page infographic using Canva summarising the key points of your video and addressing the project stakeholders.
You must use at least eight (8) sources of information and reference appropriately. These may include government publications, industry reports, and journal articles. These sources must be presented in the video in the form of in-text citations and a reference list. Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
