Assignment 1 - Event proposal, plan and analysis of research

INTRODUCTION

This assignment assesses the following Learning Outcomes of this module:

1. Evaluate hazards, risks and danger, and safe working practices for an event.
2. Organise an event and communicate effectively with other organisations and people
3. Develop a marketing plan, and control, monitor and evaluate the performance of an event.

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

You will work in groups to produce a detailed event proposal and plan for the implementation of an event. You will then produce an individual analysis of research undertaken in compiling the report.

REQUIRED

The group will prepare a detailed event proposal and plan to include: schedule, health & safety guidelines, roles & responsibilities, diagrams, maps or layouts (as appropriate). The group's proposal and plan will form the appendix to the individual analysis from each member of the group.

Each member of the group will then produce their own individual 2000 word analysis of research undertaken in compiling the plan. The analysis will expand on the outline business case, taking into account the feedback and any revisions recommended following the presentation. The analysis will detail and defend the decisions made in compiling the manual/plan including choice of event, event objectives, resources, stakeholder management, marketing, logistics, health & safety and budget.

Assignment 2 - Review of the delivery and management of an event

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

The previous assignment has produced a detailed manual/plan for an event to publicise Myerscough College Motorsports. In groups you will now go on to deliver the event and individually analyse the outcomes.

REQUIRED

Taking note of the feedback on your previous assignment, you will now go on to deliver the event you have planned. NOTE: In the event that the event cannot take place due to circumstances beyond the control of the group, an alternative event will be allocated

Following the event you will individually produce a critical review of the event that your group delivered.

This should not be a simple event report. Using appropriate tools and techniques, your individual review will analyse the events: achievement of event objectives, use of resources, management of stakeholders, marketing outcomes, use of logistics, adherence to health & safety regulations and implementation of budget.

Based on these analyses you should also include recommendations for future events.

ASSESSMENT GUIDANCE

• Do not make any assumptions with regard to the reader's knowledge or experience.
• Charts, photos and drawings greatly add to reader understanding.
• Stick to the word count target.
