A fashion student at Bay State College is considering selling home-made jewelry on the side to earn some extra cash. One particular item, that has gotten much praise among her friends, is her Jeweled Necklace. The student believes she can sell each necklace for $30 each. Since she is planning to make multiple of the same necklace, the student must purchase some supplies and equipment to get started. The following is her estimated breakdown for costs: fixed cost of $200, plus $10 per necklace.

Let x = number of necklaces sold.

(a) Develop a model to represent the total profit for selling x necklaces.

(b) How many necklaces will the student have to sell to break-even?
