Over the last eight years NASA has spent $200 million developing new space suits. The suits are nowhere near ready despite a looming deadline - the retirement of the International Space Station in 2024. Auditors are reporting that none of the three projects NASA has in development for the new suits has a clear roadmap. One project in support of the Constellation Program continued into 2016 despite the program being cancelled in 2010. NASA plans to have humans visit Mars in the 2030s but without updated space suits this will be virtually impossible to achieve.
