Project Background:

The University is concerned about the number of disruption and the compromised safety and security of students, staff and its stakeholders. To address this problem, a number of possible projects were identified and subjected to a rigorous selection system based on quantitative and qualitative measures. The selection committee settled for a multimodal biometric system using both fingerprint verification and facial recognition at 4 main entrances. The anticipated budget is R5 000 000.00 and the project should be completed within 16 months. The university's IT unit is responsible for implementing the project, but they don't have the capacity and expertise to plan and perform the major portions of the project.
