Question

In out patient clinic,40-year-old female presented with a complaint of a persistent dry cough for more than two weeks. The patient initially experienced a severe cough, Shortness of breath and Chills that has since improved, but a dry cough persists intermittently. The cough began approximately 2-3 weeks ago and has been ongoing for the past 2-3 weeks. The cough is dry, non-productive, and worsens with deep breaths. The cough is aggravated by deep breaths and initial cold symptoms with a runny nose. The cough is relieved by avoiding dairy products and using Robitussin, although Robitussin has only provided partial relief. The cough is intermittent and tends to recur on and off throughout the day. The cough was initially severe, the cough has become less intense but remains persistent. The patient experiences fatigue as a result of frequent coughing. The patient has attempted various home remedies, including reducing milk and sugar intake and taking neem, to manage the symptoms. She has also been using Allegra, which helped resolve a recurrence of itching about a week ago. There is no history of heartburn, chest pain, or fever. The patient denies having asthma.
