Question

Does domestication make dog species weaker over time?

Image of a man-engineered dog breed

Dogs ancestors are wolves. Today's dogs retain a lot of those wild characteristics, including prey drive, spraying or even the innocuous act of burying their toys/food for later use. But has domestication made them weaker? Will the average pet dog be able to survive in the wild if it absolutely had to? Would dogs be able to revert to their natural instinct in a world without humans or will they just go instinct?

The concept of evolution being reversible or species becoming dependent to one another could have some interesting repercussions on us humans. Attached in the link below, you see 14 dog breeds that are the most likely to survive a world without human. I believe we have the ethical duty to ensure breeding does not impede on the ability of another species to fend for themselves.
